What is Parallelism?

Parallelism is the use of similar grammatical structures within a sentence or series of sentences. When items in a list or series are written using the same grammatical form, the sentence flows better and is easier to understand.

Example: "The boy is frolicking in the noonday sun, running through the water, and looking at a girl down the way."

Notice how all three actions use the same -ing form: frolicking, running, and looking.
